Vicious Fancies

This is where it lops off the edge. Rather than cast my mind to the Monuments of M—™ , I have instead decided to be more accurate and slate my passing-fancies — the things fresh in the back of my skull. Once here followed a list. Now, not.

As a matter of fact i listened to steely dans 'countdown to ecstasy'on LP and have pretzel logic and greatest hits on cd...but seeing that me favourite song 'do it again'(not, rikki dont lose that number) is only on greatest hits which is misplaced i decisively put on a t-rex record, bolan boogie then ride a white swan...i went to far when i put that last record on and yes i ended up watching ice-t ham it up on law and order....

I still haven't heard "Do It Again". It's from their first album, "Can't Buy A Thrill". Well, I might have heard it once, but I don't know it by name. I also haven't heard "Countdown To Ecstasy". Then again, I don't personally own any of their records.

Moonriver?

i think its about an unlucky gambling cowboy...the chorus goes 'you go back Jack do it again, wheel turning 'round and round, you go back Jack do it again...pathetic you might say but catchy...the pretzel logic beats countdown to ecstacy...i compare it to eating a $200 piece of kobe steak against drumsticks that have been marinating in kanines urine for about 2 years...moonriver ah yes i was doing the moonwalk while urinating...thus your name...you should be honoured...

Yes, I've heard of those, or should I say that, one-record wonder, but I haven't actually heard them, so will do. And just did, in fact. 'Tis a nice tune. As to Handsome, I stole that song from the spider and it rings a vague bell. Good song. Incidentally, Walter Becker looks increasingly creepy/odd with each passing year. It looks like he super-glued a lion's mane to his jaw.

Double incidentally, heard about their antics with Luke and Owen Wilson, and, more recently, Wes Anderson? Assuming you haven't, the Steely Two wrote a mock-letter on their website to Luke Wilson, pleading him to get his brother Owen to apologise for being involved in a project whose premise was apparently lifted from the Steely Dan song "Cousin Dupree". It was a joke that only occasionally induced a smirk, but that, coupled with their recent letter to Wes Anderson which is perhaps funnier, appealed to me in a vain way. It seems they're smart arses after my own heart. I mean, you don't get many seasoned musicians wasting time on that sort of thing, let alone even contemplating it. I can just picture them sitting in front of the typewriter (it was probably a computer, but a typewriter seems funnier) exchanging witticisms about the Wilsons and the Anderson.

I saw too much of myself in their pulling of that stunt, right down to the capitalisations and mock-©s. Perhaps wishful/hopeful thinking on my part. I can be an immature prankster, and I hope I'm like that when I'm pushing middle-age in a successful soft-rock duo.
